My week in oatmeal.

I have changed my eating habits quite a bit the last three months. Instead of skipping breakfast in favour of ‘fasting’ and only eating lunch and tea (dinner) I have now made a point out of eating breakfast every morning. This of course goes hand in hand with my new training regime which actually requires that I provide my body with breakfast in the morning.  Despite cutting out most carbs (vegetables and fruit excluded) in my current diet I made the decision to keep oatmeal in the mix. The reason being that oatmeal provides me with important soluble fiber and a small boost of carbs needed to keep my energy levels up during gym and cardio sessions. Another great benefit with oatmeal is that it is much easier to maintain the same portion-size every morning and thus knowing the exact amount of calories consumed.  It makes my life easier and subsequently happier. So, without further ado, below is my week portrayed in a variety of oatmeals, I hope it can provide some inspiration on how to succesfully liven up your oatmeal in the mornings!

Monday started with oatmeal and some American blueberries, a lovely combination.

Tuesday was a day of experiment when I decided to try out pomegranate which was surprisingly astounding. The refreshing taste of the berries in combination with the gentle oatmeal made my tastebuds perform cartwheels of joy all morning!

Wednesdays oatmeal contained sweet mango, pomegranate and kiwi. Kiwi is by far my favourite in oatmeal, it is simply divine!

Thursday, another love of mine which I have written about before, blackberries! I prefer my blackberries when they are rather unripened and yet have a bit of sting to their taste. Since kiwi is my other love, and the combination of these two is definitely a breakfast which wows!

Friday provided a combination of blackberries, pomegranate and kiwi – very refreshing start to the morning and very filling! Adding fruit and/or berries to your breakfast may not be to everyones taste, but I like it as it also gives me a boost of c-vitamins in the morning.

Saturday started with a simple oatmeal and two kiwis, a lot of kiwi – but oh so amazing!

Sunday rounded off my week of oatmeal in a fantastic mix of raspberries, blackberries and kiwi – I could not have asked for a better end to my week. So there you have it, seven different ways to ‘spice’ up an otherwise rather dull breakfast alternative!
